How new letters and scripts are added
- We review the topics members send in.
- We look for situations the library doesn’t cover yet, and for challenges many people share.
- When a topic is added, its therapeutic letters and communication scripts are written by Dr. Thomas A. Minotti, Ph.D., LCSW-R, drawing on more than 40 years of clinical experience.
- New topics become part of the library for every member.
Tips for a helpful suggestion
- Describe the situation, not the people. For example, “asking my adult son to pay back a loan” works better than names or private details.
- Say who the letter is for. A parent, partner, child, friend, coworker, or even yourself.
- Tell us your goal. Do you want to apologize, set a boundary, say goodbye, ask for help, or reopen contact?
- Keep it short. One or two sentences is enough for us to understand what you need.
Examples of letter and script topics you could suggest
- Reconnecting with a sibling after years of silence
- Telling a close friend they hurt you
- Asking a partner for more support at home
- Talking to an aging parent about moving to assisted living
- Setting boundaries with in-laws
- Saying goodbye to a family member you were never close to
Your privacy matters
We only ask for a nickname and an email address. Please don’t include full names, addresses or other private details about yourself or anyone else. A short description of the situation is all we need.
